Three Drunk-Driving Arrests in Arlington Over the Weekend

The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Three men were arrested in Arlington over the weekend and charged with drunk driving.

Brendan N. Lilley, 37, of Cerina Road, Jamaica Plain, was arrested at about 4:12 a.m. Saturday on Mass. Ave. and charged with operating under the influence (first offense), a marked lanes violation and leaving the scene of property damage.

Lilley allegedly hit a road sign and some shrubbery on the Mass. Ave. median in front of the Central Fire Station. Police found him pulled over on Mass. Ave., near Pleasant Street, without a bumper or front driver’s side tire on his Honda Civic.

Lilley allegedly told police that he was driving home from Cambridge to Jamaica Plain. He said he believed he was on the Riverway in Brookline, according to police.

Michael C. O’Brien, 30, of Forest Street, Arlington, was arrested at about 5:05 a.m. Saturday on Maple Street and charged with operating under the influence (first offense), a marked lanes violation and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Police responded to Maple and Pleasant streets after a driver called police to report that a car had just crossed the centerline and almost struck his vehicle before stopping in the middle of the intersection.

When police arrived, O’Brien was allegedly standing next to his Nissan Altima visibly drunk.

After an officer asked O’Brien for his registration, O’Brien allegedly handed the officer a Burger King coupon. When the officer asked where his registration was, O’Brien allegedly pointed to the coupon and said, “Right there.”

Vitor M. Moraes, 26, of Trowbridge Street, Cambridge, was arrested at about 5:27 p.m. Sunday on Fairmont Street and charged with operating under the influence (second offense).

Moraes allegedly crashed his vehicle into the side of an MBTA bus while attempting to make a U-turn on Mass. Ave. near Fairmont Street.

Moraes submitted to a preliminary breath test at the scene, where had a blood-alcohol level of more than three times the legal limit, according to police.

Police allegedly found 38 empty nip bottles under his driver’s seat and a glass pipe and two grams of marijuana in the vehicle as well.
