A raccoon, which bit two children and an adult in Arlington over the weekend, has tested positive for rabies, according to the town.

The bites occurred Friday evening on Hodge and Upland roads in the Morningside neighborhood – however, reports of sick animals have been received all over town.

All three bitten were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

More from the Town of Arlington on rabies, including preventative measures.

Has the Town of Arlington considered a trap-vaccinate-release program rather than wait until the spread of rabies reaches epidemic proportions?

Animal control won't do a damn thing about them. There is a family of raccoon's living in one of Keith Lombard's property's and he and the town ignore it.

The incident happened in my adjourning neighbor's yard. The advocate tells the story best: "He told police that his granddaughter was sitting in his backyard when she saw a raccoon on the other side of his backyard fence. He told her to begin walking toward the house and not interact with the animal. Before she got very far, the raccoon jumped over the fence, landed on his granddaughter’s back and bit her on the head, police said." I know the children bitten, the neighborhood is filled with children who all play outside. inthegloaming makes rabid statements to downplay the seriousness of this situation, while I merely was making a public service announcement.

Hey Stephen , be careful I hear there is a tiny and I mean tiny Rabid RAT down the cemetery that like to harass mourners on Sunday mornings ...
