Police: Scott Jones Threatened Suicide in 2010

Jones was one of four people found dead Monday in a Newland Road home. The bodies of his wife, Mei Kum Jones, and their infant twin sons were also discovered.

Arlington police were called to the Newland Road home, where a family of four was found dead Monday, in 2010 for a report of the now deceased father threatening to commit suicide.

The father, Scott Jones, and his wife, Mei Kum Jones, both 43 of Arlington, were found dead Monday afternoon in their first-floor condo at 45 Newland Road, along with their twin sons, Colt and Cameron Jordan, who would have turned 1 next week.

According to a police report released Tuesday, in March 2010, Mei Kum Jones, then Mei Fulton, called police to the residence because Scott Jones, then her boyfriend, had called her and threatened to commit suicide. He told her over the phone that he had left a note and “wanted to be at peace,” according to the report. He also told her to log on to his insurance policy and make herself the beneficiary.

Using his cell-phone location, Massachusetts State Police found Scott Jones about two hours later at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus. He was then taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for treatment.

On Tuesday, police and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office remained mum on the cause and manner of the deaths, as they’re awaiting autopsy results from the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities have said that this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public. They are also not looking for any additional suspects.
