Joggers Assaulted on Bikeway
At 2:11 p.m. on Saturday, two women told police they had been spat on and verbally assaulted by a white male in his 40s as they jogged by on the Minuteman Bikeway.
When one of the victims turned to look at him, he allegedly yelled obscenities and made a “furtive movement toward her, as if he were going to grab her,” according to the police report.
Police found the suspect on the bike path near . The victims said they did not wish to press charges at this time.
Man Nearly Strikes Pedestrian, Gets Punched in the Face
At 5:23 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to Massachusetts Avenue and Winter Street for a report of an assault and battery.
The victim’s wife said she and her husband were driving down Massachusetts Avenue when they nearly hit a white man in his 20s who was trying to cross Winter Street. The driver pulled over to speak with the man and apologize for failing to yield to the pedestrian, she said.
According to the police report, the would-be victim allegedly punched him in the face and fled on foot. Police were unable to locate the man.
Two of the victim’s front teeth were broken, police reported. Medical staff at Lawrence Memorial Hospital said the man’s nose looked broken, but they would not know until further testing could be administered.
Front Door’s Window Smashed with Punch
At 12:31 a.m. on Friday, a Melrose Street resident reported a broken front door window. Police noted a front storm door’s window was smashed with the glass scattered on the front porch.
It appears the window was punched because there were droplets of blood on the front porch, according to the police report. Police were unable to locate a suspect.
Car Egged on Melrose Street
At 11:19 a.m. on Friday, Arlington Police were called to Melrose Street for a report of vandalism of a car. The victim said someone smashed two eggs on the driver’s side of his 2006 BMW overnight. Police noted the car’s paint was chipped.
GPS Stolen from Unlocked Car
At 9:18 a.m. on Sunday, a Waldo Road resident told police someone broke into his unlocked car overnight. The victim said a $100 GPS device was missing.
