Woman Loses Thousands in ID Theft
On Tuesday afternoon, a Hawthorne Avenue resident called to file a report of a past identity theft.
The victim said her cards were used without her consent in locations such as Arlington’s and a Best Buy store in Burlington. She added the cards were taken from her purse while she was at the in Arlington.
In total, according to police, the three credit cards were used to purchase: $90 at California Pizza Kitchen; $320 at Sun Glass Hut; $560 at Lord and Taylor; $627.49 at Walgreens; $331.90 at CVS; $27.40 at Capital Grill; $6.10 at Barnes and Noble; and $3,900 at Best Buy.
Most transactions took place in Burlington, except for the one at Walgreens.
Resident Arrested at Germaine Lawrence
On Monday, Police arrested a 17-year-old female at on charges of destruction of property, disturbing the peace and assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the report, the 17 year old became aggressive at staff, eventually throwing furniture around a room where she was. At one point, police said, she threw a metal chair toward a staff member.
Second Resident Arrested
Once the previous incident was over, another resident was arrested, this time for disorderly conduct. Police said that, once the previous girl was arrested, a second 17 year old began to yell obscenities at staff and rile up other residents.
Police noted she was “clearly a danger to herself and the several other people who were inside the common hallway.”
Woman Reports Theft at Foodmaster
On Monday afternoon, a resident told police she had left her purse inside her car while at on Sunday, and had just realized the purse was missing.
Inside the purse were several documents and a department store card.
