After speaking with two witnesses and the driver, police believed that the woman was traveling down Hemlock Street, toward Brattle and Summer streets, and that when she attempted to brake for a red light, she was unable to due to the wedged flip flop.

One of the witnesses was driving behind the woman’s 2009 BMW 328i sedan, and she said that the vehicle’s brake lights were turning off and on rapidly before the crash.
