A 27-year-old Pleasant Street man was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with attempted murder and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Harold C. Clancy allegedly choked a woman in his Pleasant Street residence during an argument Thursday afternoon, Jan. 16, according to police.
The woman told police that the argument had started the previous night. She said after she told Clancy to leave the residence that night, while he was packing, he picked up a pocket knife and took a step toward her.
The two eventually went to bed Wednesday night after Clancy settled down, the woman said. However, the argument continued Thursday, when Clancy choked the woman and threw her into a wall, she said.
Police responded to the residence for a report of a disturbance at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday.
