One Patron Injured After Driver Crashes into Scutra Restaurant

Arlington police arrested a local man Saturday after he allegedly drove his car into the Scutra Restaurant on Summer Street.

Police responded to the business around 6:15 p.m. Saturday after receiving a repot that a car had crashed into the building, injuring one patron who was having dinner inside.

Upon arrival, police evacuated the restaurant and treated a 70-year-old Arlington woman who was later transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

After investigating the incident, police arrested Nick Martirosyan, 57, of Arlington, for driving under the influence of alcohol (second offense) and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. 

Witnesses told police that Martirosyan struck other repacked cars before ultimately coming to rest partially inside the restaurant.

"We are fortunate that injuries were not more serious, and we hope for a speedy recovery for the woman who was injured," Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan said in a statement. 

Martirosyan was released on $200 cash bail and will be arraigned in Cambridge District Court on Monday, March 3, according to Arlington Police.
