Newland Road Man Charged with Attempted Murder

The man was also charged with aggravated assault and battery, according to police.

A Newland Road man allegedly shoved a woman to the floor early Sunday morning and then began choking her.

Gregg J. Perry, 30, was arrested at about 3 a.m. Sunday outside of his residence by Arlington police and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and battery.

Perry told police that he and the woman got into a “verbal argument,” according to the police report. The woman said that Perry pushed her to the floor and began choking her. She said she “feared for her life” and had to forcibly remove his hands from her throat, according to the report.

Police said the woman had “red marks” around her neck. She also had other cuts and bruises, according to police. She told police that Perry’s abuse is an “ongoing occurrence,” according to the report.

Perry appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” when police arrived at about 2:10 a.m., according to the report. Police said the residence was in “complete disarray” and included hypodermic needles scattered about.

The woman was taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington, police said.
