Newland Road Man Charged with Attempted Murder

The man was also charged with aggravated assault and battery, according to police.

A Newland Road man allegedly shoved a woman to the floor early Sunday morning and then began choking her.

Gregg J. Perry, 30, was arrested at about 3 a.m. Sunday outside of his residence by Arlington police and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault and battery.

Perry told police that he and the woman got into a “verbal argument,” according to the police report. The woman said that Perry pushed her to the floor and began choking her. She said she “feared for her life” and had to forcibly remove his hands from her throat, according to the report.

Police said the woman had “red marks” around her neck. She also had other cuts and bruises, according to police. She told police that Perry’s abuse is an “ongoing occurrence,” according to the report.

Perry appeared to be “extremely intoxicated” when police arrived at about 2:10 a.m., according to the report. Police said the residence was in “complete disarray” and included hypodermic needles scattered about.

The woman was taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington, police said.

This is the third attempted murder by strangulation in the past two months.

Along with armed robberies, bank robberies, drug busts and on and on. Arlington is no longer the safe town it once was. Good thing the cops will be busting people for improper use of leaf blowers, parking in front of their houses too long or, god forbid, drinking water from a plastic bottle. But don't worry Arlington, soon you'll be able to buy your "medical" marijuana right here in town and blaze away all of your worries.

I'll take that over attempted/accomplished murder by assault weapons any day.

No town is as safe as it once was. Or maybe it was always this bad, but pre-internet we just didn't hear about it in the media quite as immediately as we can now. And hey, the good news is, with all this "real" crime burgeoning, the police won't have time to worry about your leaf blowers/car parking/plastic bottles. So celebrate!

So what your saying is you`ll take Assault and Attempted Murder and Murder so long as it`s not with an " Assault Weapon " all i can say is that`s very PC of you ........

I was being tongue in cheek. Bad humor. But yeh, I think one has a better chance of surviving a close-contact strangulation attempt than one does facing rapid fire assault weapons. All women should take self-defense classes. That, or neuter all men with testosterone poisoning. ;-P (Bad humor alert.)

The term "politically correct" has been twisted to mean a pejorative akin to "you're so gay." Being gay is a good thing. Being politically correct is a good thing: IF the political expediency of doing the correct thing is what the motivation is, well, not ideal, but hey, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. If one doesn't do the right thing because of ethical reasons, then political gain is the next best. As long a the results of doing the correct thing is the same. (Whoa, that was off the top of my head/multitasking. Hope it makes sense.)

inthegloaming needs to be educated. there have been MANY MORE attempted / accomplished murders by Sickos not using so called " assault weapons". . Read the FBI stats. Get a shotgun like Joe Biden recommended. LOL............

He looks like the comedian Tom Green.

Mike Camm: You need to read what I wrote and not what you imagine by projection. I specifically and literally wrote that *I* thought my chances would be better fighting off a strangler than an assault weapon. I didn't say strangulation couldn't kill me. And I didn't mention any other method. I'm sticking to THIS topic.

Wow, I am not going to touch this with a ten foot pole ...
Katie Kenney February 27, 2013 at 08:03 PM
I know him and not one thing in the police report is true! Don't believe everything you hear!
Katie Kenney February 27, 2013 at 08:04 PM
Everything in this police report is false, I am the woman that this bullshit is happening to and my boyfriend is 100% innocent. The arlington police blow everything out of proportion to cover their own asses. they want to make themselves look good by saying they stopped a murder! Gregg is the nicest guy in the world and is not a violent person at all! I can't wait til all this bullshit is over!
