Lewd Act Reported at Lower Mystic Lake

Lewd Act Reported at Lower Mystic Lake

A woman fishing with her husband on the Medford side of Lower Mystic Lake Sunday evening called police at about 6:45 p.m. after she spotted a man with his pants around his knees on the Arlington side who appeared to be masturbating.

The woman, who was near Mystic Valley Parkway in Medford, told police that she first yelled over to the man that she could see him and told him to stop. She said the man continued until she yelled over that she was going to call police. The man then ran away from the lake, toward East Arlington/Somerville, she said.

She described the man as a white male in his 40s, wearing a gray T-shirt and royal blue shorts. Police were unable to locate the man.

Small Explosion at the Hardy School

A young male admitted to police that he put aluminum foil and a liquid drain cleaner in a Mountain Dew bottle to create a chemical explosion at the at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police were able to locate the male after the witness who called police gave them the license plate number of the car the male got into after the incident. The male told police that he didn’t realize what he did was illegal.

Police were planning to file a criminal complaint against the male for “throw/place/explode explosives.”

Woman with Cane Struck by Car in Dunkin’ Donuts Parking Lot

A woman with a cane was transported to Lahey Clinic Saturday afternoon after being hit by a car backing out of a spot in the parking lot, at 1234 Massachusetts Ave.

The woman, who had recently undergone neck surgery, was complaining of pain in her neck and right hip. She was knocked to the ground in the collision.

The driver told police that she was backing out at “an extremely low rate of speed” at about 1 p.m. Saturday when she heard a “thump noise,” immediately stopped and called 911. The driver said she had checked her mirrors and didn’t see the woman. She said she did see her at the last second, but it was too late.

Police Break Up Party on Park Avenue Extension

Police responded to a report of a loud party on Park Avenue Extension at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Once there, police found “numerous youths gathered for a party” and “trace amounts of alcohol present in the home.” However, police were unable to find proof that any of the youths had been drinking, and no one was drunk, according to the police report.

Police had all of the partygoers under 21 call a parent or guardian for a ride home. The two youths who live at the home were also required to leave, as their parents were away.

Two Injured in Lowell Street Crash

Two women were taken to area hospitals Friday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash in front of on Lowell Street.

Police believe a woman driving a Toyota Rav4 toward Lexington lost control of her vehicle shortly after 4 p.m. Friday and struck a telephone pole, which caused her vehicle to spin around toward oncoming traffic. According to police, the other woman, who was driving a Hyundai Sonata behind this woman, attempted to veer out of the way of the Rav4 but, instead, struck it head on.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The driver of the Rav4 was transported to Lahey Clinic with an injured shoulder and headache. The driver of the Sonata was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with chest pain from striking her steering wheel during the crash.

The woman driving the Rav4 told police that she was hit from behind before the crash. However, police did not observe any damage on her rear bumper and cited her for operating to endanger.
