Customer Leaves Car Running Outside Mass Convenience, Other Customer Steals It

The victim talked to the suspect in store prior to the theft.

A customer told police he left his son’s car running outside of Mass Convenience on Warren Street in East Arlington Sunday morning, when another customer, after speaking to him in the store for a few minutes, stole it.

The victim said the male suspect came up to him in the store at about 8:15 a.m. and asked him whether he was in Arlington or Somerville. The suspect told the victim he had met a girl last night and was trying to get back to Charlestown, the victim told police.

After the brief conversation, the suspect allegedly exited the store, got into the victim’s son’s vehicle and drove off toward Somerville.
