Cab Driver Assaulted by Fare Evader in East Arlington

The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9.

A cab driver called police to the intersection of Fremont and Silk streets in East Arlington at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday after he had been punched by a fare evader.

The cab driver said he had picked up three men, all about 20, in front of Cambridge City Hall. After they told him to stop at the intersection of Fremont and Silk streets, they jumped out of the back of the taxi and ran toward Sunnyside Avenue, he said. One of the males punched him over his right eye before hopping out, he said.

The driver had a small cut above his right eye but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The driver said the males skipped out on a $26 fare.
