At about 5:25 p.m., the bicyclist ran into the inside of the opened car door in the westbound lane, across from Mass. Ave.’s intersection with Elmhurst Road.

The male driver was cited for failure to use care.

In the collision, the bicyclist was propelled off of his bike and onto the street. He was treated for a small laceration to his right elbow on scene and refused transportation to the hospital.

I don't know Nana 8...I watch cyclists they know were watching and they are getting better. Traffic in general I believe is getting the message but there will be more of this. Can it be that simple ...look before you do any maneuver crazy safe or routine. Be it on a pedal bike 18 wheeler or on a skate board. Limiting distractions will help. Don't be that guy. I still think more visibility on the cycles will help. Since running light on cars came about an 11% chance of being seen dropped the low speed crash rate across the board. The third brake light also has helped decrease rear end crashes. However nothing works best like "heads up"

the idiots are people that fling their car doors open without looking. This motorist is lucky that it wasn't a bus or a truck. That would have cost them more than $100.

It's not the driver that should be at fault . Biker fly around car without care and we are at fault for their stupidity
