Arrests in Arlington: Aug. 14-20

There were four arrests in Arlington from Tuesday, Aug. 14, to Monday, Aug. 20.

The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Aug. 20

No arrests

Sunday, Aug. 19

Robert R. Russo, 34, of Dorothy Road, Arlington, was arrested at about 1:16 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19, on Dorothy Road and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Russo allegedly struck a male in the head with a mini Boston Red Sox souvenir baseball bat during an altercation. Russo claimed that he hit the man in self-defense, police said.

Saturday, Aug. 18

No arrests

Friday, Aug. 17

William M. Garcia Mejia, 20, of Newhall Street, Lynn, was arrested at 2:29 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, on Renfrew Street and charged with felony breaking and entering. Garcia Mejia was allegedly caught rummaging through a car that didn’t belong to him.

Thursday, Aug. 16

No arrests

Wednesday, Aug. 15

Sarah E. Contreras, 23, of West Via San Teresa, Tucson, Ariz., was arrested at 10:33 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, on Massachusetts Avenue and charged with assault and battery and malicious destruction of property over $250. Contreras allegedly had an altercation with a man.

Wayne S. Gilchrist, 57, of Brattle Drive, Arlington, was arrested at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, on Massachusetts Avenue on an active court warrant. Gilchrist had a warrant for a larceny over $250 charge out of Arlington, police said.
