Arlington Man Arrested After Alleged Assault on Dorothy Road

Arlington Police responded to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday to speak with the alleged victim of an assault that had just been reported in Arlington.

Once there, officers spoke to the victim’s girlfriend, as the victim was unable to speak clearly due to his injuries, which included “major swelling” to the left side of his face and a swollen-shut left eye, according to police.

The victim’s girlfriend told police that she witnessed the incident, which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Dorothy Road and Margaret Street. She said the suspect boxed in her boyfriend’s car and then punched him in the face while he was still sitting in the vehicle. She said the suspect continued to punch her boyfriend after he exited the vehicle and after he fell to the ground. While her boyfriend was on the ground, the suspect also kicked him in the face, she said.

The alleged victim was able to confirm his girlfriend's accounts.

Police soon arrested Paul M. Ventura, 26, of Arlington, for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot).

Police had actually spoken with Ventura and his brother earlier in the night, as Ventura’s brother called police because he said that someone had told his brother that people were going to “get him” after the earlier altercation.
