Arlington Police Chief Fred Ryan confirmed the ongoing investigation Wednesday. “There is an ongoing investigation,” he wrote in an email. “If and when it results in a criminal complaint or and/or indictment, the public will be notified.”

Prior to being named athletic director in 2007, Dever was a guidance counselor at the high school. Before that, he was a guidance counselor at .

The Athletic Director has been placed on administrative leave with pay after notification from the Arlington Police Department that he is the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Police Department and the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office involving allegations of certain criminal conduct. The Superintendent has concluded that the best interests of Arlington Public Schools and its student-athletes are served by leave pending the outcome of the investigation of these allegations. Is DeCaprio reapplying? Maybe the now would be a good time..maybe someone should send an email.
Zoltan August 30, 2012 at 09:59 PM
The phrase "allegations of “certain criminal conduct,”" seems like a rather damning choice of words.
Joe August 30, 2012 at 11:02 PM
Great guy............this all stems from a vendetta about a coaching appointment.....false accusations... but damage has been done by the School annoucing, as police Chief said ' we won't have announced this'
Wondering August 30, 2012 at 11:20 PM
Superintendent made the announcement and the Chief said, " We would't have made an announcement about an ongoing investigition". The Super is also the one who hired him. And this is no vendetta, believe me this is very serious. Get ready for a new AD at the high school.

Coaching selection committee members have now spoken of rigged selection processes. The investigation seems far reaching, as it should be.
Tim August 31, 2012 at 04:38 PM
Dever has nobody to blame but himself ..... Just like all the other jobs in town they are given to whoever is connected . Just Dever got caught ...

I wonder how Wondering knows so much, must have read the emails, threatening the school about lawsuits etc., Games begining, Regrets, sounds like no one will win this one, too bad, Arlington was finally in a success story in Athletics. I wonder.......
Wondering August 31, 2012 at 07:46 PM
In this town it's who you know will tell you the truth every time. Not reading emails. You are right about one thing, no one wins this one. Pick up the pieces and move on.
Tim August 31, 2012 at 08:16 PM
Oh I have picked up the pieces ...and have moved on BUT I WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER FORGET .....
Are you kiddingme August 31, 2012 at 09:34 PM
In this Town, it can be who you know, then again it can be someone with a HUGE grudge, HUGE ego and no backbone....and sometimes they don't even live here anymore. I hope our Kids grow up better, smarter and wiser then the vendetta crowd.
Tim August 31, 2012 at 11:20 PM

I will quote from last year's commencement. Our children are finally flourishing and because ONE COACH and his son DOES NOT get what they want, everyone has to suffer. I thank Mr. Dever for his kindness, understanding and NEVERENDING support of our athletes, I have had the opportunity to be BCC'd on very strange emails as an AHS graduate. I will let the address speak for itself. "We have strong academics, competitive athletics, a stellar arts department, and we've even been awarded the title of leanest school district in Massachusetts. When I go around to basketball courts in Cambridge and other surrounding towns, I can truly say I am proud of telling people that I am from Arlington and am soon to be an Arlington High School graduate. I'm not going to say all of the ways these people helped me nor do I have time to name all of the people, but in closing, and in no particular order, I would like to thank my mom and all of my family, Charlie Skidmore, Linda Buckley, Carol Dube, Ted Dever, Robert DiLoreto, everyone at the Arlington Boys & Girls Club ..."

This is getting out of hand. Let the investigation move on and let the chips fall where they may. Just letting you know it is serious.
PeaceTree September 01, 2012 at 02:21 AM
R U KIDDING ME - there is an ongoing criminal investigation. Do you know anything about the criminal activity being investigated? Do you honestly support AHS athletes without knowing what the police are investigating? Did you see what happened at Penn State when officials looked the other way? Did you see what happened to Mr. Baseball (Pete Rose) when he broke the law? You need to let the law enforcement agencies finish their investigation, which no one but them know what it is about, before you continue to post illogical nonsense. If you truly respect the student athletes in Arlington you will respect the fact that a serious police investigation is ongoing and withhold making comments until the results are made clear to the public. No one believes people they like can or will do bad things...until it is proven that they did. That has not been done in this case yet, but you are naive to be defending and accusing when the investigation is reportedly ongoing and serious enough to result in a person being suspended from their position.
Wondering September 01, 2012 at 03:38 AM
Peach Tree, Thank you. Enough said.
Are you kiddingme September 01, 2012 at 02:05 PM
Oh, sorry, your right let the bashing continue, my bad. An Investigation is ongoing, all the facts should be considered, absolutely, of course, there should be no positive light shed on the subject, absolutely. What happened in the Roger Clemens case? Oh right, mistrial....credibility should be a factor. If people should be witholding comments, then there should be no forum to post them. Love that dirty water.
Are you kiddingme September 01, 2012 at 07:18 PM
You seem to know that this ongoing investigation is "serious", unless you work for the Arlington Police Department, The Massachusetts State Police or for The Middlesex Attorney's General's Office, you really could have no idea if this is serious or not. Unless you do? I was at Pop Warner the other night and heard a certain selectperson spewing falsehoods as well as the above person, I think she is a cheerleading coach. "Chips Fall where they may" sounds like a "a gamble you won't win" interesting......Wonderiing you must be VERY involved to know an investigation is "serious"or not...do share.
Tim September 01, 2012 at 08:07 PM
Are you kidding me Speaking of POP WARNER is the Coach with the substance abuse issues / thieving issues or as an ARLINGTON COP called him " An All Out Junkie " Coaching Kids ? Because if he is , that shouldn't be happening .....
Are you kiddingme September 01, 2012 at 11:52 PM
To Wondering, silence is a virtue, Congratulations on learning the skill. My last question, once you squirt the toothpaste out of the tube, how do you get it back in? OOPS!
Rosemary September 02, 2012 at 12:02 AM
How many former Winchester coaches got brought over to Arlington, and did any of them have financial dealings with the Arlington AD? If so, are they being investigated?
Sage September 02, 2012 at 12:54 AM
Wow, is this what all the rumors are about? I guess we should look into how many former coaches wives are or were employed by the Arlington School system, how many former coaches are employed by the town, blah blah blah. Up until the last post I thought maybe something was wrong. If it is this stupidity AGAIN, well what a bunch of wasted money by everyone. Thank God for graduations! Rosemary, are you in Florida?
stevieB September 02, 2012 at 10:31 AM
This is what happens when Arlington morphs from a middle class, hard working populace to a elitist, snobbish, look at me I support lizzy warren crowd. There is a definite increase in pettiness and narcissism when the radical left wingers take over and that's the point Arlington is at. Sorry to day..your athletics are in tough shape, the academics are average and in the end your still Arlington..face it..as much as the moonbats want to think..your not Lexington..your not Cambridge..your not even Watertown. However, you will fereventlt support the incompetence of devalued and barry Obama without fail..great job!
Ned September 02, 2012 at 03:37 PM
Rosemary is in Chelmsford, not Florida - -

It is our opinion that the owner of this agency had made himself a limited public figure and thus is open to public scrutiny and evaluation...The Owner refused to post his name and contact information on web site or release it for public knowledge. Why does the owner hide from his clients?
