Altercation Ensues After Strangers Feed Man’s Dog on Broadway Plaza

The incident took place late Sunday afternoon.

Plaza late Sunday afternoon after two men fed another man’s dog treats while the man was inside Starbucks.

The dog owner told police that he had tied up his dog outside Starbucks and been in the coffee shop for “some time” when he noticed the two men feeding his dog treats at about 4 p.m. He said when he went outside to tell them to stop, one of the men told him it was “no big deal.” He said the two men then became more aggressive toward him.

A Starbucks manager, who had previously asked the two men to smoke their cigars in a designated smoking area, instead of in front of the shop, then came out to help resolve the confrontation. The Starbucks manager was pushed aside by the two men, and the argument continued, police said.

The manager then told the two men that he would call police if they kept yelling.

The two men told police that they had fed the dog treats while discussing the death of one of their sisters. One of them said they thought the dog owner was talking down to them. As they were arguing, one of the men dumped out a few more treats for the dog, which made the owner upset and they all began to yell, they said.
