Alleged Drunk Driver Charged with Possession of Heroin, Oxycontin

The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 32-year-old Shirley man was arrested early Sunday morning on Broadway after police responded to a report of an argument in the street.

Mark A. Gustafson was charged with operating under the influence, having an open container in a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property over $250 and possession of Class A and B drugs.

Police allegedly found Gustafson and a woman, who matched the description of the arguers, in a running parked car on Broadway.

Gustafson appeared to be drunk and failed sobriety test on scene, according to police. Police also allegedly found heroin and Oxycontin on him, as well as an open Natural Ice beer in the car.

Gustafson’s thumb was bleeding at the scene, and police believe he punched out a window of a nearby residence during the argument.
