2 Arrested After Alleged Drug Deal on Appleton Street

The following information comes from the Arlington Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Arlington police arrested two men late Tuesday afternoon after an alleged drug deal in a motor vehicle on Appleton Street.

Police had 20-year-old Benjamin P. Rothman, of Tanager Street, Arlington, under surveillance and followed him as he got into a motor vehicle with another man in Arlington Heights and drove to the Appleton Street area.

Police moved in after the alleged drug transaction was complete and arrested Rothman and the other man, 22-year-old Peter A. Cook, of Winchester Drive, Lexington.

Both men were charged with possession to distribute a Class D drug and conspiracy to violate a drug law.

Police allegedly seized marijuana, pot brownies and $275 in cash from Rothman and Cook.

Like Paul said, a cop pretended to be a civilian and solicited Ben. The car was the cop's. I was there with him so they arrested me too because why not. The money they took was actually more like $580, from me, which I had to pay for auto repairs. I don't expect to get it back, cops love stealing money from kids in this town.
