A State police dive team assisted two tow trucks in pulling the vehicle from the water. The vehicle was out of the water at about 4 p.m.

There were skid marks at the scene near Sagamore Avenue. Based on the skid marks, it appeared the vehicle was traveling north on Mystic Valley Parkway and then turned left, across the southbound lane of traffic and into the lake. The vehicle had to cross over the Mystic River Path and go through some brush before entering the water, which is about 20-25 feet from the road.

State police said the cause of the crash is being investigated.

An initial report had the driver’s age as 17 based on information from a trooper at the scene. However, state police said that this age is incorrect and that they are waiting to complete their investigation before identifying the driver.

The vehicle was registered to a person out of Stoneham, police said.
