Marketing a Home During the Holiday Season

MARKETING A HOME DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON

Every year at this time home sellers face the same dilemma…whether or not to take their home off the market for the holiday season.  Granted, this may seem like an odd time for people to be buying homes, but you can be assured that your home will be seen by only the most serious of buyers.  The “tire kickers” come out with the warm spring weather.

Since so many sellers tend to wait for springtime to sell, the spring housing market is full of choices for buyers.  Your home will definitely have less competition in the marketplace now.  For some buyers you may be the only game in town.

Currently the market is loaded with buyers who have been in the market for some time and are anxious to take advantage of the historically low mortgage interest rates.

Consider too the warmth that your holiday decorating adds to your home.  Oftentimes this is one of the times your home shows at its best.  Don’t waste this opportunity.  Call your agent and ask to have the lockbox removed through the holidays and only allow pre-scheduled appointments with an ample amount of notice.   Then your holiday traditions and entertaining won’t be interrupted.    If you travel during the holidays you will be getting a break from the inconvenience of showings and open houses.

So in this year where brisk real estate marketing hasn’t followed historical patterns make your home a welcoming place where potential buyers will want to spend their next holiday.
