UPCOMING AIFF EVENTS

Arlington International Film Festival and the Visual Art Department of Arlington High School is proud to announce the upcoming March 2014 ‘Artist in Residency’, Winfred Rembert.

Mr. Rembert and his work have been documented in the film, ALL ME: The Life and Times of Winfred Rembert by New York filmmaker, Vivian Ducat.  Rembert has crafted a technique of tooling and painting on leather where his intensely autobiographical paintings have preserved an important time in our troubled history in the segregated South.  Transforming painful memories, Rembert’s work is a celebration of beauty and meaning … a triumphant saga of race in contemporary America as well as a triumph of the human spirit.

The project is intended to promote dialogue centered upon the relationship between visual art, current events and political change.  It will also provide a model of interdisciplinary education and community collaboration. The Residency will conclude with a community reception/exhibition of the student’s art. http://news.acmi.tv/segments/winfred-rembert/
