Unsafe at Any Speed on Crosby Street

Sidewalks on Crosby Street at the intersection of Ridge and Columbia have been under construction for more than one month now.  A town contractor dug up the crosswalk at the intersections before school ended and left the work unfinished.  To add insult to injury, the contractor left a debris pile of asphalt and an old bobcat at the intersection with Ridge St. for the past week.  This pile forces cars turning on Crosby to the opposite lane.

Worse than that, today, the contractor dumped a pile of sand that covers half the roadway and then parked another bobcat directly across from it, leaving a passageway of about 8 feet.  Can anyone say, head-on collision tonight?  This is a dangerous situation and given the contractor's slow approach, one likely to persist for some time.

C'mon DPW, supervise this contractor and insist they stop putting residents at risk.
