Boston just had its first Annual Burrito Bowl with chefs from The Regal Beagle in Brookline to in Somerville and Olé in Cambridge. This year Arlington had no representation, but there's always next year. So where can you go for your own burrito taste test in town?
is a great choice. They have some special burritos on the menu. Pollo Pibil is a shredded chicken burrito with fresh orange, tomatoes and a mild chile sauce. The Gambas al Ajillo are a shrimp and garlic burrito. And since chocolate isn't just for Valentine's Day especially in Mexican cuisine, there is the Chicken or Vegetable Mole burrito with a rich mild chocolate chile sauce and either grilled chicken or vegetables. If you want to host your own Burrito Bowl, you can have them bring a burrito bar to you through their catering service. There is a minimum of 10 people at $9.95/person.
is doing well and is a welcome newcomer to Arlington's Mexican cuisine scene. On their burrito menu are the Durango with a special spread, shredded steaks simmered in a mild and rich jalapeño sauce. The Carne Asada is a classic served with a home cooked tomato sauce. The La Posada can be ordered vegetarian, with chicken or ground beef. The Chile Colorado is made with pork cooked in La Posada's traditional sauce. Their Chile Verde is a braised beef with onions with a roasted poblano pepper sauce. There is something for everyone her with recipes steeped in tradition.
For something completely different head over to for a variety of burritos with a twist. You don't necessarily think "vegetarian" when it comes to BBQ but Blue Ribbon flips that on its head with their Barbecued Vegetarian Burrito. It is a rice and beans burrito with cabbage, salsa, cilantro and sour cream served in a flour tortilla. For the meat eaters there is a choice of pulled pork, chicken or burnt ends burritos. At $5.99 and $6.99 respectively the price is perfect for any occasion.
With these three hot spots in Arlington you can have a Super Burrito Bowl this winter so gather your friends, grab a note pad, or make a zoomerang survey and let the games begin!
