Letter: New Slides at Robbins Farm Park to be Officially Unveiled Saturday

The Friends of Robbins Farm Park is hosting a 'thank you' celebration for the community at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The following is a Letter to the Editor from Christian Klein of Friends of Robbins Farm Park, Community Events.

Last year, we were able to replace our beloved hill slides through the generous support of our members, our community and our town.

This project involved a unique partnership between the Friends of Robbins Farm Park and the Arlington Recreation Department, where we each agreed to raise half of the funds required to replace the slides. Not only did we reach out goal, through your efforts, we exceeded it. (The additional funds have been placed in an isolated account dedicated to the future maintenance of the slides.) This is deserving of a celebration!

We are hosting a party in honor of our new slides on Saturday, May 12, at 4 p.m. We will have a ribbon cutting, honor a few individuals who made special contributions and share some refreshments. In the event of rain, we will hold the event the following Saturday, May 19.

One of the things we would like to do is recognize groups of children who made a special effort to raise money for this project. We are aware of a couple of bake sales and lemonade stands held for the benefit of the slide fund. If you are aware of any children who organized or participated in a fundraiser, please email me at volunteer@robbinsfarmpark.org and tell me what they did.

We think it is important to bring these stories forward to be shared with the community.

Thank you for all your support, and we hope to see you on the 12th.

Christian Klein
