Community Corner

Help a high school student improve their English! Be a mentor.

The Newton Mentoring Alliance is looking for mentors to help high school students improve their English, while improving their physical fitness.  Each month The Newton Mentoring Alliance hosts activities or offers passes for mentors and mentees focused on fitness such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, yoga, and much more! This gives matches an opportunity to practice their English--and stay active!

Mentors are paired in a one-on-one relationship with a young person in high school as part of a year-long program. Mentors commit to meeting with their mentee in the community twice per month. Our community of mentors and mentees is growing every day, and we hope you'll consider helping a young person in Newton!

Training and ongoing support is provided. No experience necessary, just a sincere desire to help a young person. Because of our suburban location in Newton, mentors must have access to a car.
