Arlington Town Hall Closed Friday

The Arlington Town Hall was closed on Friday April 18th during it's usual 8:00 to 12:00 hours. There was well decorated sign (covered with red white and blue)  in the sidewalk stating the town hall was open. Doors were locked around the building and there was not a single sign indicating the town hall was closed for the day. Additionally, no telephone message for any employee in the hall indicated that the town hall was closed. Adding insult to injury, the town governance website did not indicate that town hall would be closed on this day. It is not a state or government holiday. I was told that you had to be on an email list to know that town hall would be closed. Email can be a wonderful convenience for those that look at email. If you do not own a computer, are disabled or simply would like notification on a building door or on a phone message (as most other sites of commerce or governance utilize) then email is wholly inadequate. I hope the town recognizes this gross deficiency and will provide appropriate notification to the town when the governance shuts down.  Many many people approached town hall Friday to conduct business. Does one have to be a member of the elite email list to understand goings on in our town? This goes against the Americans with Disabilities Act not to mention open access to general information. Barbershops, pharmacies, libraries, just about everywhere else puts a sign up.
