Richard Hayman, Music Arranger for Boston Pops, Dies at 93

Richard Hayman, the longtime music arranger for the Boston Pops and conductor of the St. Louis Pops, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Manhattan, according to his obituary in the Boston Globe. He was 93.

Hayman grew up in Arlington.

He arranged music for the Boston Pops for more than 50 years, under conductors Arthur Fiedler and John Williams, according to his obituary in the New York Times. Hayman arranged more than 400 pieces for the Boston Pops overall, the Globe reports.

Hayman founded the St. Louis Pops in 1976 and led the group until 2002.
