Obituary: Letteria Post, 86, of Arlington

Post died Tuesday, Dec. 31.

The following is from Keefe Funeral Home.

Our beloved cousin, “Sis,” or “Lettie,” Letteria Catherine Post died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2013, at her Arlington home after a gradually increasing decline. She was 86.

Letteria was graduated from Winchester High School in 1945 and subsequently attended secretarial school, working for a law firm before joining New England Tel & Tel and becoming an operator. Her facility for numbers was remarkable. She worked for the company over 40 years, retiring from what is now Verizon. Letteria made many friends there, was always fun-loving and witty, known for enjoying good times with her co-workers.

Single throughout her life, she lived with her aunt, Sadie Lenna Swenson, and Sadie’s son John, following the deaths of both of Letteria’s parents, Emily and Ellsworth Post. She became “Aunt Sis” to more than a dozen children of her two brothers, Ellsworth and John Post, both now deceased. To the late John Swenson and his family, Norma and Sarah, she was always just our “Sis,” with whom holidays and celebrations were shared. Letteria Post’s wit, warmth and loving attention will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.
