Obituary: Blanche Hannon

Hannon died Wednesday, May 28. She was 97.

Blanche M. Hannon, 97, of Windham, New Hampshire, formerly of Arlington and Belmont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28.

Her beloved husband, James, predeceased her in 1977. She was the devoted mother of Robert and his wife, Virginia, of Derry, New Hampshire, and James and his wife, Jessica Ronalds, of Acton. She was a loving grandmother to Michael Hannon and his wife, Laura, of Melrose, Kevin Hannon of Manhattan Beach, California, Brian Hannon and his wife, Michelle, of Salem, New Hampshire, Jake Abrams and his wife, Martha, of Quincy, Eliza Ronalds-Hannon of New York City and Susanna Ronalds-Hannon of Pittsburgh, and had seven great-grandchildren.

Blanche was born in Cambridge and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. She worked for several years for the WPA. She was a very active member of several parishes in many capacities and was a valued member of church choirs into her 80s. She also volunteered at the Pine Street Inn. For the past six years, she was a resident at Windham Terrace where she was often able to assist those less vigorous. In addition to her family she leaves many good friends who will miss her counsel and good humor.

Funeral from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., Route 60 (adjacent to St. Agnes Church), ARLINGTON, on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Funeral mass in St. Agnes Church, Arlington, at noon. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation Monday, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial in Belmont Cemetery.
