The Arlington-Belmont Crew team, along with 55 clubs from nine states and two countries traveled to Pembroke, N.H., last Sunday to compete in the New Hampshire Championships Regatta. The race followed a three-mile course on the Merrimack River. Arlington-Belmont Crew sent five boats of rowers who competed in the Men’s and Women’s Junior Novice races.
In the Men’s Junior Novice 8+ race, Arlington-Belmont Crew’s A-boat placed ninth out of 33 boats with a 17:24 finish, less than a minute off the lead pace. Arlington-Belmont’s B-boat placed 26th with a time of 19:04, and their C-boat placed 32nd with a time of 20:41.
The A-boat was coxed by Brenna Sorkin from Belmont, and rowed by Ekim Otucu, Trey Butler, David Babikian, Alex Gharibian, Daniel Quinn and Trevor Corning from Belmont, and Eryk Dobrushkin and Dan Cook from Arlington. The B-boat was coxed by Ian Bernardin from Arlington, and rowed by Liam McDonough, Steven Trvalik, Louis Pratt and Adam Nahn from Arlington, and Adrian Tanner, Liam Cushman, Ryan Sass and Rafi Wagner of Belmont. The C-boat was coxed by Emma Curtis from Arlington, and rowed by Nick Pagliasotti, Asa Minter, Eli Rubens, Adam Banzon and Rory Liddy of Arlington, and Anthony DiFranco, Dylan Ryan and Connor Giallongo of Belmont.
In the Women’s Junior Novice 8+ race, Arlington-Belmont’s A-boat finished 12th out of 19 boats with a time of 20:11. Arlington-Belmont’s B-boat finished 17th with a time of 21:50.
Competing in the A-boat were Andrea Abanto, coxswain from Arlington, and Anna VanBenschoten, Bridget Kiejna, Emma Murach and Paige Riley, rowers from Arlington, and Olivia Cronin, Callie Abouzeid, Catherine Tang and Della Copes-Finke, rowers from Belmont. Leading the B-boat was coxswain Kayla Murphy from Arlington, with assistance from rowers Alice Liu, Alex McElhoe, Annessia Jimenez, Susannah Benn, Tali Gorokhovsky, Betsey Donham and Sarah Daum from Arlington, and Eva Joll from Belmont.
Arlington-Belmont Crew will compete next at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, Oct. 21, in Boston.
