The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service offers useful tips on keeping food safe for yourself and your guests. In just two hours foodborne bacteria can turn your best plate of deviled eggs into a devilish delicacy.

To keep your holiday foods safe, cook them thoroughly, use shallow containers, never leave them sitting out for more than two hours, and keep them at the appropriate temperature.
