New Foundation Forms to Support Arlington’s Libraries

See what the foundation's main objectives are.

The Arlington Libraries Foundation announced its formation Thursday at a press conference at the Robbins Library.

The foundation, a nonprofit, was established to increase awareness of the roles of Arlington’s libraries and to raise funds to support the libraries, according to a Thursday release.

The Arlington Libraries Foundation is the third nonprofit supporting Arlington’s libraries – the Friends of the Robbins and the Friends of the Fox being the other two. It will focus on four permanent funds, which will support extra hours, materials, youth services and unrestricted gifts.

In addition, it will provide individuals the opportunity to create named endowed funds and make bequests to the libraries.

The foundation will also have annual campaigns to support material purchases for the libraries and to open the Robbins Library on Sundays from 2-5 p.m. from October to May.
