PLAY for Japan: a Benefit Concert Series for Disaster Victims

A group consisting of Japanese professional classical musicians from the Boston area are starting a series of concerts called “Benefit Concert Series for Disaster Victims -  PLAY for JAPAN”  to raise money for the relief effort in response to the recent earthquake and tsunami in Northeast Japan.

The first, on Sat. April 16th in Arlington, will be tailored towards families and will feature classical chamber music, Japanese traditional music for flute and koto, and popular music from the films of Hayao Miyazaki. The finale will be a chorus that everyone in the audience can join. We are also planning to hold a sing-along for infants and toddlers with parents.

Program:
Music by Mozart, Bach and Schubert, etc.
Flute and Koto ( Japanese Traditional Instrument) performance
Music from Hayao Miyazaki's movies (My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke)

the minimum suggested donation is $10 at the door. In addition to raising funds for the victims and for the rebuilding of this devastated area, the musicians would like to share with the public their deep connection to Japan and sympathy for those affected by this violent natural disaster.
