MyRWA Mystic River Water Chestnut Rip Out

Hop in a canoe or kayak and help MyRWA eradicate the invasive water chestnut plants choking the Mystic River Watershed.

Water Chestnuts are floating-leaved plants form dense, continuous mats over the water that impede boating, fishing, and swimming, and crowd out native plants.

MyRWA, partnering with other environmental organizations and boat clubs including Groundwork Somerville, Friends of the Mystic River, Riverside Yacht Club and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, is hosting events to rip out these invasive plants. Bring your own canoe or register to use one of ours.
