Saying goodbye to our faithful friends
The Huffington Post recently wrote about pet hospices in a very respectful way. Those of us who love our companion animals don't find it at all strange that we do everything in our power to keep them with us and, more importantly, to keep them healthy and comfortable.
Over the past 20-odd years I've had to say goodbye to Ginger, Patsy, Lester, Doolah, and Winnie, all at different life stages and for different reasons .... and never, ever does it get any easier.
Greater Boston is fortunate to have its own pet hospice, New England Pet Hospice & Home Care. A massage client with a very elderly little dog recently had a consultation, and reports that Heather helped her understand what the dog was going through, and how she would know it's time to let go. (Thankfully, not yet.)
