The Natural Perfection of Arlington. A Local History Talk

Arlington Community Ed presents an illustrated lecture by Dee Morris

Over a century ago, Arlington’s Robbins Spring Hotel and the Outlook were special vacation destinations. Guests from greater Boston and beyond loved spending a few days socializing in the bracing 'mountain air' of the town's high hills. Clients seeking to regain mental or physical equilibrium patronized the Arlington Health Resort which was connected to the Ring Sanitarium. Bottled water from the Robbins Springs supplied surrounding communities (and Harvard) with mineral-charged plain or carbonated beverages that 'prevented disease'. Dedicated to the art of healthy living, the local scene embraced a range of professionals from Dr. Barbara Ring, MD, to F.H. Pratt, an innkeeper. In 1906 Arlington was not only a favored resort, but a lively oasis of rejuvenation.

Admission for this event is $10 in advance or at the door. For more information, visit www.ArlingtonCommunityEd.org.
