The Importance of Being Earnest

Arlington Friends of the Drama presentsThe Importance of Being Earnest
by Oscar Wilde, directed by Andrea Humez

October 11, 12, 13; 18, 19, 20.  Fridays and Saturdays 8pm.  Sundays 4pm

In this Victorian “trivial comedy for serious people,” triviality and frivolity are matters of the most serious importance, and happiness depends on a name. Two young men assume false identities in order to pursue pleasure, shirk responsibility, and win the hearts of two young ladies with very particular notions of romance. Identities are mistaken, misunderstandings abound, parental authority is flouted, witticisms are exchanged, muffins are eaten, and love triumphs in the end
