Rangoli "Sandala" Workshop

The Hindu holiday, Diwali is celebrated between mid October and November.  Known as “the festival of lights,” Diwali commemorates the return of Lord Rama, from exile and conquering the demon-king Ravana. Decorative designs called Rangoli are made on floors of living rooms and courtyards during the festival. They are meant to be sacred welcoming areas for the Hindu deities.

Artbeat will be celebrating this cultural holiday with our creative take on the art of Rangoli.  We are morphing the tradition of Rangloi mandalas with our Creative Adventures sand art to create an entirely new art form called “Sandala.”  Use our collection of techniques to create a beautiful sand mandala that you can keep forever.  We are offering an adult workshop to explore the traditions of Diwali with history, traditional nibbles, and the creation of your very own “Sandala.”

$20 per person.  Includes all materials, a glass of wine, and nibbles.  Please call ahead to make a reservation.
