Camp Bulldog is settling into our new headquarters at Shore Road Park with tons of supplies for the residents South of Montauk Highway.

Please come down and get the supplies you need and spread the word to your neighbors. We're open seven days a week from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Our Facebook page is 'Lindenhurst After Hurricane Sandy' if you'd like to follow for updates.

We are serving hot food and providing supplies for residents of Lindenhurst and other villlages affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Thank you to everyone who came down today (Nov 4). We went through more than 25 trays of food. Trucks were pulling up all day long and giving us more; things were so busy I didn't always have a chance to catch where it all came from. We have so many local businesses going out of their way to ensure that Lindenhurst residents are being fed. The amazing West Babylon PTA donated over 20 trays of hot food and several boxes of sandwiches for tomorrow. They gave us contact info and are rallying the troops in West Babylon for donations of supplies as well.

We will be starting up again tomorrow at noon. If you or anyone you know is available, please come down to help. We could use assistance sorting through things and helping people find what they need. We've received a lot of clothes and it would be greatly appreciated if people could help with some sorting and locating the correct sizes. Just coming down there to look through things is overwhelming for our residents who have greater worries on their minds. When we have people on hand to gather things for them, we ensure that they leave with exactly what they need.

If you want to donate hot food trays, please consider bringing something other than pasta (we tend to get a lot of pasta dishes). The food does not need to be elaborate. Basic vegetable or meat dishes are great.

If you are donating clothes, please be mindful to only bring things that will be of immediate use: winter clothes, coats, gloves, sweatshirts and sweaters, underwear, socks. If you could organize them before dropping off we would greatly appreciate it (by gender and type of clothing).

We already have a great deal of canned goods, but many of the residents do not have ways to heat them. If you are going to bring food, please brings foods that do not require preparation.

The most looked-for items are: bottled water

baby food

diapers

baby wipes

toilet paper

paper towels

soap

shampoo/conditioner

toiletry items in general

blankets and other bedding

towels

cleaning supplies

hand warmers

pet food

BATTERIES are like gold, as one person told me. (particularly C & D batteries)

socks

gloves

There is more rain coming our way this week. If anyone has a connection for tents, tarps, and other waterproof supplies we need them desperately. We want to remain at our location so that the south Lindenhurst residents have easy access. Plastic bins and tables would also be useful.

If you're local and would like to help or donate, but do not have a way to get there, let me know and we should be able to make arrangements to pick you or your donations up.

Please spread the word. There are many people who think that they don't qualify for a hot meal or supplies. One man felt horrible because they had electricity, but they didn't have any money (he thought that he shouldn't be accepting supplies and food from us because there are people who are worse off). We are here for everyone who is having a rough time right now, regardless of the particulars of their situation. Please encourage people to come out. If they're really stubborn, come get some stuff for them.

If you have any questions, please contact me by email (amy.castiglia@gmail.com).
