Just when you thought it had all been done, Chef Paul Turano of Tryst Restaurant North of Boston in Arlington, MA has partnered with Quad Cycles, Verrill Farm and Walden Pond for another unique culinary experience. On Sunday, October 21st, 2012, those with a passion for food and adventure will experience the flavors of fall on Tryst’s Second Annual Culinary Bike Tour!
This one-day excursion will highlight the best of local flavors as riders embark on a 35-mile bike ride, making stops at some of the best local food & wine purveyors including Verrill Farms in Concord, MA, historical Walden Pond in Concord, MA and finally Tryst in Arlington, MA.
“I wanted to do something that was out-of-the-box and really highlighted the fall season. Everyone does squash soups and seasonal specials… I wanted to do something where diners got to experience it all-- from the weather, to the farm that the food comes from, to a local historical site that accentuates the region,” said Chef Paul Turano. “Dining should be an experience- and this is the ultimate New England experience.”
The tour starts at 11:00 AM when the group meets at Quad Cycles, the area’s premier bicycle shop located on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington, MA. A Quad Cycles Ambassador will lead the group to their first stop, the scenic Verrill Farm in Concord, MA, for a traditional country experience. There, the group will enjoy two fall favorites: a hayride tour of the 100 acre farmland followed by cider and a slice of homemade apple pie. Riders will then head to Walden Pond in Concord, MA, where they can attend a semi-guided tour of the historical site featuring the former home of Henry David Thoreau and a breath-taking 335 acres of wildlife and trails. Finally the group will head back to Arlington where they can reap the benefits of their hard work during a two course dinner at Tryst Restaurant.
This all-inclusive, 35-mile culinary bike tour is $40 per person and includes tours of Verrill Farm and Walden Pond, and dinner at Tryst (please note: alcohol and gratuity are not included at dinner). Guests are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and equipment. Bike equipment and rentals from Quad Bicycle are an additional $17 per person.
