Cantilena Open Rehearsals and Auditions: Jan 6, 13, 20, 2014

Cantilena, the women’s classical music chorale in Arlington, currently has openings in our low alto section. Cantilena auditions at the beginning of both fall and spring seasons, and usually has openings in all SSAA sections.

Audition dates: 7: 30 pm Mondays: January 6, 13, 20; 2014
Location: First Parish Unitarian Universalist, 630 Mass Ave, in Arlington Center.
Expectations: The audition given by Music Director Allegra Martin consists of vocal exercises, tone matching, and singing a familiar tune of our choosing. There is no need to reserve a spot, and no preparation is required - just arrive at 7:30.

Members have prior choral experience and either some sight-reading ability or a very good ear. If interested in auditioning, we ask that you come to one of the three open rehearsals; sing with us; and then stay for a brief audition with our artistic director and audition committee.
(Open rehearsals end early to allow time for auditions.)

Spring Concert: Sunday, May 4, 2014, 4 p.m. "Immoveable Objects, Unstoppable Forces: Songs of Human and Natural Wonders,"   will feature songs about nature and natural forces, and songs about human endurance, challenges, and triumph.
Program includes words of Sojourner Truth and Dorothy Parker; music of Brahms, Persichetti, Saint-Saens.

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings, including most holidays, from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the First Parish Unitarian Universalist in Arlington Center.
