Today is Wednesday, Nov. 21. Here are five things you need to know:
1.) Town Administrative Offices Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Friday: The following town offices will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Friday: all offices at Town Hall (730 Mass. Ave.), the Senior Center (27 Maple St.), the Recreation Office (422 Summer St.) and the DPW Administrative Offices and Inspectional Services (51 Grove St.). Regular hours will resume Monday, Nov. 26.
2.) Libraries’ Hours Today, Thanksgiving Day: The Robbins Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, the Fox, from noon to 5 p.m. On Thanksgiving Day, both libraries will be closed.
3.) No Trash Collection Thanksgiving Day, One-Day Delay Rest of Week: There will be no trash collection on Thanksgiving Day. Trash normally collected on Thursday will be picked up Friday, and the Friday collection will be done on Saturday. This schedule applies to trash, recycling and yard waste. For missed collections, call JRM directly at 1-800-323-4285. For additional trash and recycling information, visit arlingtonma.gov/recycle.
4.) Weekly Yard Waste Collection Ends Friday, Nov. 30: The last day for yard waste collection in 2012 is Friday, Nov. 30. Items considered to be yard waste include: leaves and grass clippings bagged in paper or put in barrels marked “Yard Waste” and small branches less than one inch in diameter and cut into three-foot lengths (or less) and tied neatly into bundles. Bundles must be less than 30 inches wide and weight less than 30 pounds. You cannot put out a root ball or stumps in with yard waste. They will not be collected. Have bags, bundles or barrels at the curb by 7 a.m. on pick-day day. Arlington residents are reminded not to put leaves into public ways as sidewalks and streets and are asked to pick up leaves in front of their houses.
Do not put yard waste on the curb before 6 p.m. the day before your collection day or leave on the curb after 9 p.m. the day after your collection day. Yard Waste left on the curb outside of these hours will be subject to a fine.
5.) Today should be partly sunny with a high near 49, according to the National Weather Service.
