Thorndike Dog Park to Open Monday

After years in the making, Arlington's first fenced off-leash dog park is set to open Monday at Thorndike Field.

Thorndike Dog Park, Arlington’s , will open this coming Monday, May 21, according to a Town Meeting announcement on Wednesday.

The new park’s hours will be 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the week, and its rules will be posted at the park and on the town website, Park and Recreation Commission chairwoman Leslie Mayer said.

After Town Meeting voted to allow fenced dog parks in 2003, it was about a six-year wait before the town, through its Recreation Department and Park and Recreation Commission, and at the request of Arlington Dog Owners Group (A-DOG), formed the Dog Park Task Force, which helped move the process forward and eventually recommended that be the future home of the park.
