Stormwater Awareness Event Tonight

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 9. Here are five things you need to know:

1.) From the town: Rain Barrels & Rain Harvesting: The Arlington Engineering Division is hosting a public Stormwater Awareness Series designed to educate residents and businesses on stormwater and the environment. Stormwater professionals will make presentations, followed by question and answer sessions.

The fourth presentation, “Rain Barrels & Rainwater Harvesting,” will be presented by Suzanna Gebelein of Great American Rain Barrel Company and Dan Ottenheimer of Oakson Inc., both of whom specialize in innovative water capture and re-use technologies.

This session will be held tonight from 7-8 p.m. in the Selectmen’s Hearing Room on the second floor of Town Hall. Additional stormwater sessions are planned throughout 2012.

2. From the town: Special Town Meeting Wednesday, Oct. 10: Arlington’s Special Town Meeting will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in Town Hall. The Warrant as well as the Selectmen and Finance Committee Reports can be viewed online.

3. In case you missed it, two males with masks and a handgun robbed Shanny Beer & Wine Sunday night, according to police scanner reports.

5. There is a chance of rain today, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are only expected to reach the mid 50s.
