The following is from the Town of Arlington.
in Arlington will be chemically treated with a USEPA/MA registered herbicide to control invasive and nuisance aquatic vegetation on Tuesday, July 17th. The entire pond will be closed to all water uses (including boating, fishing, and swimming) on that day only. In addition, water from the pond cannot be used for drinking, irrigation (ie; watering of lawns, shrubs or plants of any kind) or watering of livestock (ie; cattle, horses, etc.). Pets or wildlife that may inadvertently drink the pond water will not be harmed. These water use restrictions will be outlined and the pond shoreline posted with printed signs, prior to treatment.
The project is being performed for the Arlington Department of Public Works under a license (permit) issued by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and an Order of Conditions permit from the Arlington Conservation Commission. Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., of Sutton, MA is the pond management consultant and contractor to the Town for this project.
