This week, more than 250 restaurants, bakeries, cafés and chocolate shops in Massachusetts, including five in Arlington, will be participating in the 13th annual Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer.
During the weeklong fundraiser, from Monday to Sunday (March 7-13), all of the eateries will have a unique dessert, starting at $3, with the proceeds going toward breast cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Bakes for Breast Cancer, Inc., a newly-formed nonprofit breast cancer organization.

The event was started in 2000 by Carol Brownman Sneider, in memory of her mother, Eva Brownman, who lost her battle with breast cancer. It has raised nearly $600,000 for Dana-Farber.
