East Arlington Parking Ban in Effect Through Tuesday

The town will reassess the situation then, according to Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine.

The parking ban in East Arlington will remain in effect through Tuesday as the town’s Department of Public Works crews continue widening, or “push-back,” efforts in that part of town, Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine said this afternoon.

The town will reassess the situation near the end of the day Tuesday, he said.

The ban will be lifted on Broadway at 5 p.m. today. It had applied to all roads east of Route 60, except for Mass. Ave.

Schools

(UPDATE 5:23 p.m. The Arlington Public Schools will be open Tuesday. Students will be dismissed at 1 p.m.)

Chapdelaine said at 3:50 p.m. today he was planning to talk with DPW Director Michael Rademacher in the next half hour to discuss the situation around town. After that, he was planning to talk with Superintendent Kathleen Bodie about school Tuesday, he said.

The real issue is making sure walks to school are safe, he said.

Chapdelaine said the rain and above-freezing temperatures helped knocked down the snow piles around town, but the melting has also caused some water issues, as some catch basins are blocked.
