Damaging Wind Possible Tuesday Night into Wednesday

Gusty southern winds could cause minor tree damage and power outages Tuesday night through early Wednesday.

Wind gusts as high as 50 mph are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory has been issued for 4 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The advisory extends across most of eastern Massachusetts, including Arlington, plus parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Strong southerly winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected along the coast. The strongest gusts are expected in Arlington between 7 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The winds will be strong enough to down trees and limbs and could cause power outages, according to the weather service.

Driving may also be difficult in the gusty winds, especially for high profile vehicles, the weather service said.
