Bay State Bike Week runs May 17 - 21 and this week there are a number of local events in Arlington where bike commuting is a way of life.
The Minuteman Bikeway that cuts through Arlington combined with the town's proximity to Alewife Station in Cambridge both mean that many people bike through town each morning.
Wednesday, as part of bike week, Ciclisimo Classico on Marathon Street will offer free coffee, juice and pastries to cyclists on their way to work. They will also give out limited amounts of bottled water.
The next evening, Thursday May 20, the Capitol Theatre will have its first annual film festival featuring the selections from The Boston Cycling Film Festival as well as a raffle.
Some of the films will include "The No Gasoline Tour"; "Inside Ragbrai" and "Someone Faster," among others. "This will be a relaxed evening of fun and socializing with some good short films, good conversation, and good food," according to the event's website. "Meet fellow cyclists and share stories of two-wheeled travel."
The film event runs from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre.
